How it started
Omega Lithograph was founded by Kevin Hanson in 1987. The goals stated on the day the doors opened have not changed since: deliver the most cost-effective and highest-quality products and services in the printing industry, and treat customers the way you would treat family.
Many of the people here have been with Omega since the beginning. That is unusual in a trade where the machines outlast the operators, and it is most of why a job that ran last year can run the same way this year.

What we have put back in
Over the years Omega has invested in new products, new machines and employee training. A printing company is a building full of equipment, and equipment that is not replaced quietly turns into work you have to turn away — so the presses, the platesetter, the folder, the stitcher and the mailing line have all been kept current enough to take the work customers actually bring in.
Everything in one building
Prepress, press, bindery and mail are all at 23rd Avenue North. A job is laid out and proofed here, plated here, printed here, folded and stitched or coiled here, and addressed and dropped at the post office from here. Nothing is shipped across town to a trade bindery and back, so nobody is waiting on somebody else’s schedule and there is one company to call when you want to know where a job is.
That is the practical argument for a shop this size. The other one is simpler: the person who quotes your job can walk twenty feet and look at it on the press.

Soy ink, metal plates,
and no film.
Three choices made in the pressroom rather than in a brochure. They are the reason the shop throws away less than it used to, and none of them cost a customer anything.
Soy-based inks only
Omega prints with soy-based inks. Soy ink is milled from a crop rather than from petroleum, it carries fewer volatile solvents into the shop air, and it lifts off the fiber more easily when the paper is later de-inked for recycling.
Metal plates that get reused
Offset plates here are metal, and they can be reused without a customer incurring an additional cost — unlike printers running disposable paper or plastic plates. Metal also holds fine detail all the way through a long run.
Direct to plate, no film
Plates are imaged straight from your file on a Screen direct-to-plate system. There is no film to shoot, process or throw out, and one less generation between the artwork you approved and the sheet.
Five departments,
one address.
One to five color offset, digital for the short runs, and the bindery and mailing line that finish the job. The equipment list names every machine.
