Direct mail into a defined carrier route, and the booklets and catalogs that go with a showroom, are jobs that need press, bindery and mailing. All three are in the one building.

Mail is the part most printers hand to somebody else. Here the addressing runs on an ink-jet transport that wafer seals in line with addressing, and the mailing goes out bulk presorted, standard or first class.

Presorted simply means the mail is sorted into the postal service's own routing order before it is dropped, so they handle less of it and charge less for it. On a run of any size that difference is the whole argument for mailing rather than stamping.

The showroom side of the same business tends to want books — a catalog, a seasonal look-book, a price list. Those are collated, stitched and trimmed on one machine rather than passed between three.
