Wayzata work skews to hospitality, boutique retail and the events that come with a lake town — note cards with matching envelopes, folded invitations that score clean, short-run menus. That is digital-press work most of the time, and offset when the quantity finally justifies a plate.

Most of this work is short. Two hundred invitations or fifty menus does not justify making plates, and digital printing has no plate to make — the image goes from the file to the sheet, which is why short color runs cost what they cost.

Offset earns its keep the other way round. The plates are paid for before the first sheet, then the per-sheet cost keeps falling as the run grows, until somewhere in the middle it passes digital. Where that crossover sits depends on the piece, so it is worth pricing both.

Folding is the part that goes wrong quietly. Heavy cover stock cracks along a fold unless it is scored first — a score crushes the fibers in a line so the sheet folds instead of splitting. Folded cards and invitations get scored, then folded.
